Quick and easy!? Since when is ten hours of trenchdigging quick and easy!? It's true friends: do not hire me for digging purposes. It took me ten hours (less a short dinner), ending at the stroke of midnight, to dig a trench 15' by 3 1/2'. (Mind you, there was some time-consuming prior removal of unwanted groundcover, which had to be disposed of separately from the removed soil, included in those ten hours). To achieve an almost even bottom to the trench, I dug in 4" at the sidewalk side, and 1' at the garden side.
Tala did a great job pruning away the dead shoots of the ground cover, even using the wrong tool. (She preferred wielding the supersized bypass loppers to the smaller and more stylish secateurs.) There is a patch of 15' by 4' of groundcover still grateful to me for saving it from her overzealous efforts ...
Creation subduing, anti-gnostic, earthy amillenialism in action!
:-)
