The Strausses at a churchplanting conference

Jared Siebert posted photographs from the Cultivate churchplanting conference we attended on Saturday. Here are some of those in which our family appear. Where in the world is Angela ... ?

Making miracles happen

Angela's main task today was painting a first new layer of buttery yellow paint in the stairwell going up to Hannah's garret. It was a difficult task, requiring ingenuity and dexterity. We thought that some of the higher corners would be impossible to paint, but Angela came up with clever "solves" (as the Garzouzies love to say) and got the job done. Hannah helped with the preparatory cleaning and cutting in around the edges.

Guest room bedstead

Some time before he married and moved to Japan, our friend Will Dykstra made a bunkbed for Tala from salvaged and found wood. The bed was made with kindness, imagination, and fine woodworking. At the top of each post Will placed a letter of Tala's name. In our new home, the bunkbed could not fit into Tala's room, so today's main task for Gideon was reconfiguring it into a bedstead for the guest room. Will's kindness and imagination shall continue to bless us as we offer hospitality to family and friends.

James North Art Crawl

Last night we went on the Art Crawl on James Street North with our friends the Van Pelts. Highlights: Angela buying cards and Hannah buying an old etiquette guide and a soft leather cover copy of Silas Marner at Under the Moon, Gideon buying a copy of Spacing at Mixed Media, all of us watching a stone being cleaned for lithography at The Print Studio, hanging out with our friends in our home afterwards. Oh, and being amused by the Ninja installation at the Loose Canon Gallery.

Harvest Wednesdays in Toronto

I wonder if anyone is presenting meals like the Gladstone Hotel's Harvest Wednesdays, here in Hamilton?
